Courses and Workshops with Deborah Ross
Journal to the Self
Open the door to greater awareness, insight and transformation with your journal. In a small group over 6 weeks, we’ll explore 18 different writing techniques, some taking just a few minutes. Each is designed to achieve specific results so that you can customize your journal according to your goals – health, personal growth, problem solving, creative expression, spiritual exploration and more. No prior writing or journaling experience is necessary.
Writing Through Transitions
Change is a part of life and brings questions, challenges and opportunities to create deeper meaning. In this small 6 week group we explore the questions that are common to all changes. Participants are provided with the journaling tools that can help bring calm and clarity to the transition process, turn thoughts and feelings into concrete action steps and affirm the strengths and skills that support the journey. Deeper meaning, wisdom and resilience are often positive outcomes.
Your Brain on Ink
The ancient art of creating and keeping a journal meets neuroscience. “Neuroplasticity” is the key modern finding that our brains are changing all the time in response to experience. We can use that knowledge to create or reinforce the pathways that lead to greater awareness, deeper connections and insight and a more intentional engagement with our values and purposes. We can write to support greater wellbeing using evidence based practices.
Legacy Writing
A 4 week workshop that focuses on harvesting the love and lessons of your life. Also known as writing an ethical will this workshop addresses our human desire to be known and remembered through sharing our values and passing on our wisdom. A profoundly healing and integrative process, legacy writing invites us to bridge generations with stories and meaning that connect us.
Participants sometimes hesitate to join a workshop because they are anxious about sharing their writing. You will not be required to read your journal entires. These are educational groups and I teach a sharing process that preserves privacy while making it possible to safely share observations about the writing process. A warm, safe space is important.
